New Video ~ Kat’s Favorite Morning Mocha Smoothie!

Karena and I have always loved cooking together, sharing our favorite recipes, and inventing new ones! When we first met, we immediately bonded over our love for pancakes, and smoothies…and so many other delicious foods!! One of my favorite parts of filming this Series was getting back in the kitchen with Karena and cooking for each other!

Today I made one of my go-to smoothie recipes. It’s a dreamy mix of chocolate and espresso…two of my faves 😻  I whip up this smoothie when I need a delish pick-me-up, if I want a breakfast on the go, or anytime I’m feeling like a creamy, chocolate brownie treat! It’s made with our plant-based, non-GMO Chocolate Tone It Up Protein (grab it at Target!) so this smoothie doubles as a refreshing and nutrient-packed post-workout meal!

Morning Mocha Smoothie

Serves 2


2 scoops chocolate Tone It Up Protein

1 cup frozen cauliflower rice

1 handful of ice

2 shots of espresso

2 Tbsp. espresso beans

2 cups unsweetened almond milk

1 Tbsp. chocolate covered espresso beans on the top per serving (optional)


1. Combine all ingredients other than the espresso beans in a blender and blend until smooth.

2. Pour into two glasses and top with 1 Tbsp. chocolate covered espresso beans per serving.

  3. Loved this recipe for the morning before heading to work, I tried it with coconut protein and without the cauliflower rice and it tasted amazing! :-) Only my man did not really like it…more for me! :-)

  4. Hi K&K! I love y’all and have been a huge fan for years! Ok, my question is, have you made a coffee smoothie with fruit? I’ve made a banana mocha smoothie before that turned out great but I’m not sure if other fruits would work. Like blueberries (my go to lol) or strawberries? Thank y’all! Love y’all!

  5. Hey K&K :) I live in the uk and struggle to find cauliflower rice – can I buy a cauliflower, chop it up and then freeze it for smoothies like we do with bananas? I’ve also started the nutrition plan but feel hungry and tired – it has made me realise I rely on sugary foods a lot to get me through the day so is it normal to feel this way as it gets out of my system? I also went veggie a few months so that may be contributing as I figure out substitutions! Love you girls and this community you’ve created! <3 xxx

    1. Hi babe! Yes, you can chop and freeze cauliflower. You can also stick with banana if you prefer it ;) When you’re first making the transition to less sugary foods, it can be an adjustment for your body. We definitely recommend upping your water intake and also checking out the Calorie Add-Ons section in your Nutrition Plan if you’re feeling hungry. The most important thing is to listen to your body as you adjust. xxo

  7. Hi K&K!!! I’m short on time in the morning before work & don’t want to wake my sister (she works nights, I work mornings). If I make this the night before will it be okay in the morning?

    1. Hey babe! The texture is best if you blend it right before enjoying but to save time, we put all the ingredients in a mason jar to get ’em ready the night before.

    I can’t seem to find frozen cauliflower in my supermarket! Should I chop or process my cauliflower and should I cook it before or after?

    1. Hey babe! You can use a food processor. Here’s how: Cut the cauliflower into 1 to 2-inch florets. Add about 4 cups of florets to a food processor (depending on the size of your processor). Pulse the cauliflower until small pieces are formed. You may need to stop periodically and scrape the sides of the bowl. If you don’t have a food processor, you can also do this by mincing with a chef’s knife but this will take longer. After, you can freeze for smoothies or cook for meal prep! xxo

    I work overnights I was wondering if this will be a good smoothie to take as snack during my shift?

    1. I’m new TIU i’m trying to figure out the best way to follow the nutrition plan with my overnight schedule.

      1. Hi Nancy! No worries girl! Eat breakfast when you wake up and dinner before you go to bed. We also love to have healthy snacks close by like homemade trail mix and Tone It Up Protein Bites at all times!! xxo

    2. Hi Nancy! Yes, it would be great. If you need something more portable, we recommend making overnight oats or protein mini muffins to take with you. Also, Tone It Up Protein bars and shakes are perfect for easy snacks.
