How Meditation Can Change Your Life ~ Deepak Chopra + More Inspiring Experts Share
Morning gorgeous! Can you believe it’s May already?! May is the start of the Summer Tone Up (kicking off May 11!) AND National Meditation Month. Two of my favorite things in one month!
Every Monday during the Summer Tone Up, I’m so excited to share a special meditation with you in the Tone It Up app. This will help us kick off each week feeling grounded and inspired. ✨
In honor of the Summer Tone Up and National Meditation Month, I want to share a little more about my mindfulness journey and the incredible, life-changing benefits of the practice.
The first time I meditated was in high school. I was going through a lot at home and was trying to find some sort of “answer” or “inner peace.” I started going to a local spiritual shop in Indianapolis and got a taste of the practice. Then about nine years ago, I picked it back up and began to make it a daily ritual.
Now I do my best to meditate every morning to prepare for the day, and it has brought so much peace, calm, and joy into my life! And after all this time, I’m still continually learning! I recently studied under Deepak Chopra at The Chopra Center.
Whether you’ve been meditating for a while like me or you’re brand new to the practice, you will feel MAJOR benefits ~ for your mind, body, and soul!
I asked Deepak Chopra and more inspiring mindfulness experts to share why they meditate and how it can transform your life! Plus, I’m sharing too :)
Sending you lots of love 🙏
The Life-Changing Benefits Of Meditation
“Meditation is one of the best tools we have to release accumulated stress, foster positive experiences and intentions, and enjoy the peace of present moment awareness. Years of research has found that meditation enhances concentration, helps you create more loving relationships, sparks creativity, and decreases anxiety and depression. Beyond the substantial benefits meditation creates for the mind-body physiology, the greatest gift of meditation is the sense of calm and inner peace it brings into your daily life. When you meditate, you go beyond the mind’s noisy chatter into an entirely different place: the silence of a mind that is not imprisoned by the past or the future. This is important because silence is the birthplace of happiness.” — Deepak Chopra
“I have suffered from anxiety and panic attacks a lot in my life, and mediation helps me in so many ways. My favorite is that it creates a ‘new normal’ for my day. When I meditate, I am present, my system dilates, and I feel calm and grounded. This creates a homeostatic base line for my brain and body to anchor into, so when my anxiety raises I notice it as different, and I can take several breaths and return to a place of calm.” — singer/songwriter Jewel
“I began meditating so I could hear my voice before the voice of the world around me. I was 22 years old and at a crosspoint in my life. My soul was calling me to deepen my studies of Ayurveda to share it with others who struggled with health problems like I did, but the voices around me told me to do the next ‘logical’ thing — find a stable job that pays your bills and keep Ayurveda as a hobby you’ll eventually be too busy for. Meditation allowed me to tune out the expectations, beliefs and fears of others so I could finally hear the whispers of my soul, which eventually led to me writing books on Ayurveda. Had I not quieted my mind to hear my soul, I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to heal others.” — Sahara Rose, best-selling author of Eat Feel Fresh and Idiot’s Guide to Ayurveda and host of the Highest Self Podcast
“I first started meditating when I was about four or five years old, when my grandmother taught me how to meditate and astral project. I guess that’s what happens when you have a very hippy grandmother who has been your best friend for lifetimes LOL. Later in my life I discovered meditation in various forms and have found it can be most powerful to not just silence the mind (which happens with practice) but to feel the relief and healing that comes from a meditation practice that helps you to observe your thoughts, feelings, and beliefs without judgment or correction. It is a deep presence that connects to the soul and the truth of you and this goes beyond the mind and body while also including it. I find that being present, just breathing and being ‘the watcher’ of ‘what is’ and ‘what is not’ is a simple yet powerful form of meditation that is accessible for anyone at anytime.” — Millana Snow, energy healer, founder of WellnessOfficial.co, and leader of Integrative Energy Healing Training
“I grew up in a chaotic household that led me through years of confusion and trauma. As part of the process of ‘reparenting’ myself and overcoming self-doubt and anxiety, I started meditating. It helped me to reconnect with my true self that I had lost along the way, and it brought me the self-awareness I was lacking through so much of teen years and early 20s. Meditation is part of my daily practice because it keeps me present, connected, sparks my creativity, and gives me energy. Meditation is my superpower!” — Karena Dawn
