Host The Perfect Labor Day Party
Karena and I hosted our HQ girls for a sunset beach bash, and today we’re sharing how we planned the party and chose the decor, TIU approved snacks, and special touches. These tips are perfect to try when you’re hosting your own celebration. So invite your girls over to toast your successes, your beautiful friendships, and this amazing Labor Day!
And we want to give a special shoutout to all the fab babes who helped make the shoot so beautiful ~ our longtime friend and event producer Leila from Be Inspired PR, Jesi Haack Design, floral designer Carissa, Cassandra from Borrowed Blu for the gorgeous table tops, and For Your Party cocktail napkins!! And our girls from the HQ for modeling…and sipping rosé with us! ;) ❤️
And thank you to our friend Jana Williams for the beautiful photography!
We wanted to throw a party that had a laid-back and natural vibe while still being beautiful and elegant. The beach setting made it super casual! You can get a similar vibe by hosting your party on your local beach, in a park, or even in your own backyard!
Who needs chairs?
I’m obsessed with the low table look right now. Having everyone gather around the table on pillows makes the party extra fun and intimate. It’s like a fancier sleepover ;) We chose mismatched pillows in shades of pink, gold, and green in all different patterns. You can mix and match pillows you have at home or grab some at Target, Bed, Bath & Beyond, Home Goods, or Anthropologie.
We also brought in a few ottomans from home for guests to sit on. A mix of fringe, leather, velvet, and even a furry ottoman adds texture and makes the table feel even more homey. Ottomans and pillows are light and easy to move around so your guests can mingle and enjoy everyone’s company!
Bring on the blooms
You know how much I love making flower arrangements! For this centerpiece, we used peonies, ranunculus, astilbe, spirea, fringe tulips, bay leaf, and jasmine vine. For a low table like this one, I like a lower centerpiece so everyone can see each other and chat!
We hung string lights from an arch decorated with eucalyptus and pepper berry. You can string your own from a wall or post. I also like weaving a strand of twinkle lights around the table for some extra sparkle! I have these lights from Anthro and these are also super pretty for another pop of light! You can also sprinkle in tea lights and votives. A package of tea lights goes a long way!
Set the scene
We chose blue plates and silverware with gold accents to go with the natural theme. DIY tip: If your chargers don’t match your color scheme, you can spray paint them! Just grab inexpensive tableware from a craft store or even gather old Christmas plates. A bit of paint transforms them into something brand new!
You can DIY so many cute details to personalize your party. I spray painted these pineapples white, pink, and gold for an extra special touch. Can you tell how much I love spray paint?
For an outdoor party, it’s best to keep your menu simple. We made a fruit platter with berries, grapes, watermelon, dragon fruit, mango, and grapefruit. We also served a veggie platter with cucumber, broccoli, tomatoes, cauliflower, jicama, and a hummus and spinach dip. Flowers made the platter extra Insta-worthy!
And never forget…the rosé!!
Is a party really complete without it? We got this cute bar cart from Target and set it up with rosé and sparkling water to make rosé spritzers. Just mix 3 oz of your favorite rosé and 3 oz sparkling water over ice or frozen strawberries!
