Get your beauty rest

Getting enough sleep is more important than ever right now! Studies have shown that people who don’t get quality sleep are more likely to get sick after being exposed to a cold or virus. Lack of sleep can also affect how fast you recover if you do get sick. While we sleep, our immune system releases proteins called cytokines, which we need to fight infection and inflammation. When we’re not getting enough sleep, we decrease production of these protective proteins. 

Aim for at least 7-8 hours of sleep each night. Turn off the news and power down your computer and phone at least an hour before bed since these things will spike your cortisol levels, making it harder to fall asleep. Instead, try to practice a calming nightly routine (even if it’s only for 5 minutes!). Read, journal, take a bath or hot shower, do a face mask ~ anything to unwind for a few mins before bed. 💤
