8 Female Founded and Black-Owned Businesses that we LOVE!

Glamourina – Glamourina is the go-to activewear apparel brand for culturally conscious women founded in Washington, DC. Co-owner’s Kia Phillips and Nekol Gaskins are working mothers who share a passion to design fashionable clothing that inspires and uplifts women.

Realizing that healthy lifestyles have a great importance in our psychological and physical wellness, Kia Phillips and Nekol Gaskins realized there was a void in the athleisure apparel market for socially conscious women and working mothers. “There were few images of women that looked like us in the market, and there were few designs that represented our culture and heritage”. So, in the spirit of creation these Queens decided to embark on a journey birthing their own inspirational athleisure brand Glamourina.

RydeFYR – Founder Chevy Laurent is a dear friend of ours and a trainer in the Tone It Up App! She just opened her Cycling Studio, Ryde Fyre. RydeFYR is a premium indoor cycling boutique offering a fully immersive multi-sensory full body workout. She also teaches LIVE workouts on Instagram @RydeFYR.

McBride Sisters Wine Collection–  The McBride Sisters Wine Collection is a story of two sisters and their passion for wine. Though continents apart, Robin and Andréa were raised in the wine regions of Monterey, California and Marlborough, New Zealand; independently developing an appreciation for the craft of fine winemaking. Living across the world from one another, Robin and Andréa were unaware of the other for nearly half their lives. Despite the 7,000 miles that separated them, the sisters would eventually find their way to each other in 1999. Robin and Andréa created the McBride Sisters Wine Collection to unite their parallel lives and passions. Both the New Zealand and Central Coast of California wines are true expressions of each region’s terroir and the McBride sisters’ signature style; a blend of old-world elegance with new-world finesse.

OhMazingFood– Owner, Stephanie Williams, has always believed in providing “from-scratch”, all natural meals for her family to promote a healthier lifestyle. Over time, she developed her own granola recipe to provide an alternative to some of the unhealthy snacks found on grocery store shelves. The snack instantly became a hit among her family, friends, and community. After having two children, Stephanie resigned from her job to spend more precious time with them and to create an abundance of Oh-Mazing! moments.

Be extraordinary. Be adventurous. Be Oh-Mazing!

Oh-Mazing! Snackable Granola is nut free, wheat free, and made with organic ingredients.

  1. These are marvelous! Shunta Grant shuntagrant.com is a business and life coach helping women live with intentionality in their careers, entrepreneurship and in their personal lives. I took one of her courses last year and found it to be thorough and challenging. Also, in the wake of the recent atrocity she did a podcast answering women who were asking her for advice on what they could do during this time of racial reckoning and unrest. It was very insightful and practical.
